Raymond E. Garvin 81 passed peacefully at the Hospice Care Center in Orange City on March 20 2011. A Celebration of Raymond's Life will be held on Thursday March 24 2011 at 1PM at the First United Methodist Church 1045 East Normandy Blvd Deltona FL 32725. Raymond was born February 23 1930 to the late Glenn C. & Theresa (Shuster) Garvin in Struthers Ohio. Left to cherish his memory is his son Dale Garvin (Kathy) of Port Orange FL; his daughter Carole Highben (Ed) of Ohio; his brother Clay Garvin of Ohio; his sister Dolores Zook (Gene) of Mercer PA; his 4-Grandchildren Jill Garvin Karen Garvin Harry Sullivan Jr. & Angela Navarro. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 44+ years Francis Garvin and his sisters Lorraine Clapper & Jean Patrick. Raymond joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War then later began his career as an accountant for the steel industry. He moved to the area in 1988 from Ohio and began his Florida retired life by serving as the Treasurer for Habitat of Humanity in Orange City. He received the Golden Hammer' Award for being the #1 Volunteer for Habitat. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0400 and member of the United Steelworkers. He attended church at the First United Methodist Church of Deltona. Raymond celebrated his life with close friends and adoring family and enjoyed activities such as fishing attending car shows (his favorite was 1958 Chevy Impala) & air shows watching baseball & old western cowboy movies and he loved spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren.
