Obituary

Raymond Dew, 88 of Palm Coast, passed away on May 14, 2013 in the loving comfort of his home. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 5:30 pm until the funeral service at 6:30 pm at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast. A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, with full military honors.

Raymond was born and raised in Beckley, West Virginia where he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. He then attended West Virginia University. At the age of 18, Raymond joined the US Air Force serving during WWII. He then served five years in the Reserves before returning to the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He moved up the ranks earning his Lt. Col. status before retiring from the military in 1968. Raymond was a navigator flying B24 war planes and many other aircraft. He earned numerous medals including the Victory medal.

Upon retiring Raymond moved with his family to Maitland Florida where they lived for over 30 years before they relocated to Palm Coast in 1999. Raymond was employed for the Kennedy Space Center, Martin Marietta, Tuttle White, and Graham Contracting. He worked for his son the last 21 years as a bookkeeper in Doug's medical practice. Raymond loved his time in the military sharing his traveling with his family. He was a master carpenter by trade and enjoyed creating beautiful pieces for his family and friends. Raymond was a proud father extra proud grandfather and proud great-grandfather. He never failed while out to dinner with the family to tell the waiter that he was waiting on four generations. He never missed a soccer game and enjoyed serving in the concession stand.

He will truly be missed by all that knew him. Raymond is preceded in death by his brother Gene. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Helen Dew one son Dr. Douglas Dew (Erica) of Palm Coast one daughter Brenda Dew Michaels (Chad) of Lutz two brothers Harold Dew (Gertie) of Satellite Beach Nelson Dew (Jessie) of Ghent West Virginia and two sisters Betty Mallamas and Shirley Dew both of Orlando and sister-in-law Peggy Hughes of Beckley West Virginia. Raymond was also the loving grandfather to his very precious grandsons Stuart (Katie) Philip (Keri) Dewey Dylan and great-grandsons Brady and Maxwell.

Donations in Raymond's name may be made to the Council on Aging St. Augustine Florida or the Marine land Project Gratitude America. Condolences may be shared with the family in this online guestbook.
