Obituary

August 29, 1943 – September 28, 2026

Daytona Beach, FL— Ramon Barreto Chico, age 83, of Daytona Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 29, 1943, in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, Ramon was the son of Benito Barreto and Francisca Chico. He proudly served in the United States Navy.

Ramon spent much of his career as a successful business owner. He owned and operated Carpet Pro in New London, Connecticut, as well as Brewer St. Realty. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, determination, and sense of humor. He took great pride in the businesses he built and the life he created for his family.

Beyond his work, Ramon was passionate about playing the guitar and harmonica and enjoyed fishing. But his greatest joy was his family. He cherished the time he spent with them and will always be remembered for his stories, wisdom, humor, and funny jokes. His laughter, personality, and presence brought joy to those around him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ramon is survived by his children, Raymond Barreto Jr., Ruth Barreto, Rebecca Barreto, Rafael and Zenaida Barreto, and Marcelino Barreto; his grandchildren, Teresa and Willie Davis, Jessica and Angel Reyes, Erica Torres, Eli Daniel Gutierrez, Christina Torres, Leah Leon, Samuel and Maria Vasquez, Rafael Barreto Jr., Jennifer Barreto, Deliah Barreto, Amyah Barreto, Zamari Barreto, Marcelino Barreto Jr., and Joey V Barreto; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and his sister, Mary (Carmen) Maldonado.

He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, all of whom will carry his memory and the moments they shared with him in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benito and Francisca Barreto; his beloved wife, Maria Esther Barreto, who joined our Heavenly Father nine months ago; his grandson, Stephen Barreto; his great-grandson, Christian Edwards; his great-granddaughter, Ariel Turner; his brothers, Elias Barreto and Antonio Barreto; and his sister, Carlina Barreto.

Ramon leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, strength, hard work, family, and countless memories that will live on for generations. Though his passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who loved him, his stories, wisdom, humor, and love will continue to live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched. May he rest peacefully in the loving arms of God, reunited with those who went before him.

Until we meet again, Pop.
