Phyllis Mackey Thomson 67 of Ormond Beach peacefully passed away Sunday May 6 2012. Phyllis was born in Louisville Kentucky and raised in Rockport Indiana. She was a member of the Rockport High School Class of 1962 and graduated from the University of Evansville in 1966. Phyllis lived in many cities over her lifetime including Marietta GA Jacksonville FL and St. Augustine FL before settling in Ormond Beach in 2004.
Phyllis was an RN by profession and by heart. She was a caregiver for her parents and a medical advisor for her friends and family. Phyllis was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in honor of her father Robert Mackey's service in WWII. Phyllis will be remembered for her sense of humor and her natural gift for decorating. Her family speculates she is already trying to re-decorate Heaven. Phyllis was also passionate about shopping. She loved hunting bargains and great finds in local consignment and department stores. Phyllis will be sadly missed by her loving daughter Tara Seguine (Jim) of Ormond Beach; her sister Barbara Erwin (David) of Brownsburg Indiana; her nephew Grant Erwin of Indianapolis Indiana; her niece Allison McDonald of Cincinnati Ohio; her uncle Joe Hill Mackey of Owensboro Kentucky and many lifetime friends. Phyllis was recently predeceased by her parents Mabel and Bob Mackey of Rockport Indiana. The family will have a private family service later this summer.
