Dr. Phyllis Walton Haring Hewitt, 91 of Deland, Florida, passed away July 31, 2014. Dr. Haring a graduate of Columbia University N.Y. was born on July 21, 1923 to the late Charles and Sue Walton in Richmond, VA.

Phyllis retired from Nassau Community College in Long Island, N.Y., where she was as a nursing educator. She moved to the Deland area in 1985, from Long Island and worked post-retirement as an adjunct professor at Daytona State College. She had a great love for books and had authored and co-authored several nursing textbooks. Phyllis was a member of Saint Peters Catholic Church of Deland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 55 years, Clint Haring,. Surviving her in death is her husband of 13 years, Richard Hewitt, and daughter, Cheri Haring of Deland FL.
