Phyllis Norene Hamp

April 21, 1921-May 13, 2021

Phyllis Norene Hamp passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 13, 2021. Phyllis was 100 years old at the time of her passing.
She was born to Lincoln Clifford and Florence Beatrice Ostrander on April 21, 1921, in Flint, Michigan. She moved to Pontiac, Michigan where she met the love of her life, Malcolm Delroy Hamp, and they were married on Nov. 24th, 1938. She began raising her family in a suburb of Pontiac and enjoyed the country life with much of her family living close by. Malcolm (Mac) joined the Navy during WW 2, and Phyllis loved and cared for her 2 son's, Ralph and Lynn, during that very difficult time. After the war, she gave birth to two more precious children, Kent and Norene.
Phyllis and Mac later moved to Drayton Plains, Mich., where she worked for the U.S. Postal Service, a large bakery, and later for her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Carol at a fun family hobby store. She enjoyed camping with family and friends, square dancing, and many family activities. Phyllis was a very loving and devoted wife and mother, and very family oriented.
In 1970 she and Mac moved to Port Orange, Florida to start a new life in the sunshine. They both found work at a nursery label sales company, where they worked many years. Phyllis and Mac became members of and were very active in the Daytona Beach Moose Lodge. Phyllis loved dancing, bowling, family cruises, trips to Arizona to see her father and brother, and anything that had to do with family. Mac passed away in April, 1991 from lung cancer. A huge loss to Phyllis and the entire family. (We all love and miss you dad!). Two years later in 1993, Phyllis fell while line dancing at the Moose Club and broke both wrists. With steel rods and pins in both wrists, she went forward during an outdoor service at Ormond Beach First Baptist Church and accepted Jesus Christ into her heart as her Lord and Savior. She later joined Spruce Creek Baptist Church where she was Baptisted, became very active, and was Church Grandma to many young children who loved and adored her.
Phyllis celebrated her 100th. birthday with close family on April 21, 2021, and attended a large sentenial outdoor birthday celebration on April 25th., surrounded by many loving family and friends.
With much sadness, Phyllis lost one of her son's, Lynn Hamp on April 29th, 2021., an event no mother ever wants to experience.
She is survived by her bother, Murray Ostander 96, her son, Ralph, (and Carol) Hamp, her son Kent, (and Sharon) Hamp, and her daughter Norene, (and Jim) Hundley. Also, a daughter-in-law, Loetta Hamp.
Phyllis was blessed with 18 Grandchildren, 45 Great Grandchildren, and 37 Great Great Grandchildren
