Funeral service for Philip John Janis 92 of Daytona Beach will be held at St Mary's Episcopal Church on Monday December 7 2009 at 1:00 pm. His family will receive friends on Sunday December 6 2009 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the chapel of Baggett & Summers Funeral Home 736 S. Beach Street Daytona Beach FL. Mr. Janis formerly of Camillus NY passed away on Thursday December 3 in his home. He served as a Second Lieutenant with the US Army Air Corp during WW II. Philip was an active member of St Mary's Episcopal Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was a published poet a member of Tomoka Poets and often read at nursing homes in the area. His photography has been displayed at many local public buildings and is currently on display at The Holly Hill City Hall.
He is survived by his wife Evlyn Millar Janis and his 4 children: Gary (Mary Ann) Janis of Auburn NY Dawn Janis of Syracuse NY Lorrilyn (Emil) Bove of Seneca Falls NY and Phyllis (Doug) Hudson of Camillus NY; along with nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He also leaves a niece Janet Walker of Colorado Springs CO and a nephew James Janis of San Bernardino CA.
