Petros Nicholas Iltsopoulos "Petran" died peacefully amongst his loving family on July 3 2011 following a courage battle with Parkinson's. He was born on January 12 1935 in Piraeus Greece to the late Nicholas and Eleni Iltsopoulos. He served as a Merchant Marine for several years before immigrating to Sudbury Ontario Canada in 1957 where he embarked on a career as a restaurateur. He co-founded U&I Refreshments with George Roumanes with four vehicles. U&I Refreshments evolved into U&I Restaurant that soon became a landmark diner in New Sudbury Ontario. Petran was also a partner in Carnaby Fish and Chips and Mr. Prime Rib. In 1987 Petran and his wife Maria moved to Titusville Florida where they joined their son Nicolas with development and growth of Kelsey's Pizzeria where he continued working until 2005. Petran was a gifted Chef and his recipes are the foundation for Kelsey's continued success for over 28 years. Petran was a founding member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Sudbury Ontario and also a member of the St. Demetrois Church in Daytona Beach Florida. Petran is survived by his wife of 51 years Maria his son Nicholas; his daughters and their husbands George and Helen Dimitrakopoulos and Gerard and Zoe Borys; his grandchildren Katherine Gregoris Athanasia Panagioti and Petros Dimitrakopoulos Evan and Zachary Borys and Maria Iltsopoulos; his brothers Theodore and Giorge Iltsopoulos and a sister Kalliope Simos. He is further survived by nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. The viewing will be held at Lohman Funeral Home-Daytona; 1423 Bellevue Avenue Daytona Beach FL on Thursday July 7th from 5-8 pm. There will be a Trisagon held at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 129 N. Halifax Ave. Daytona Beach FL on Friday July 8th at 11:00 with Fr. Joseph Samaan officiating followed by his burial at Daytona Memorial Park.
