Peter Elliot Strange, 72, passed away on Friday, July 4th in Port Orange, Florida - believe it or not, his late father's birthday.
Peter's visitation will be from 12:00-1:00PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 and a service for him will start at 1:00PM at the Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange. Please note that a memorial service will take place in CT at a later date.
He was born in October of 1942, in the Bronx, New York to Anne & Carmichael Strange.
After graduating from Bayside High School in 1960, he worked for Hanover Bank as a Letter of Credit Clerk before hiring out for the New York Central Railroad in September of 1962. Peter served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966, first as an Artillery Surveyor then a Battery Clerk in the 8th Armored Division, 1st Battalion out of Zirndorf, Germany.
In April of 1967, Peter hired out as a conductor on the New Haven Railroad Line and worked until his retirement in 2005. He was a lifelong NASCAR and White Castle fan who had a soft spot for dogs. These last few years he was especially close to Star, the neighbor's beautiful Golden Retriever.
He and his wife, Dyanne raised two children in Danbury, CT. Jenniffer resides in Danbury with her husband Paul and Christine resides in Eden Prairie, MN with her husband Jason and Evan, his only grandson..
His only sibling, Mary, resides on Long Island with her husband Jeff. Their two children, Julie and Danny, reside in New York and North Carolina.
