It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Peter Lania, a beloved husband, father, Papa, and friend, on May 2, 2023. He was 81 years old. Peter was born in East Harlem on December 19,1941. He was the 9th child out of 10 born to Jennie and Ralph Lania. He was raised in East Harlem until his travels moved him to Bronx, NY, where he met his future wife, Patti, who lived next door. They had 3 children, Frank, Jeanette, and Carmine.

In 1985,  Peter and Patti decided to move their family to Long Island, NY and settled in Bay Shore until they retired to Palm Coast, FL in 2005 . While Peter lived on Long Island, he was an Ombudsman for a local nursing home, caring for elderly people helping them live their remaining years in peace. Peter was an avid hiker, he could be seen at the local parks' walking trails.  He was a neighborly man who enjoyed talking with his neighbors on a daily basis.

Peter enjoyed his retirement with Patti by traveling between New York and Florida to be with their grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren more than anything else in the entire world.

Peter is survived by his loving wife, Patti, who stood by his side for 50 years, his sons, Frank and Carmine, and his daughter, Jeanette her husband Elisha, and his 8 grandchildren, Frank Jr, Peter, Nathaniel, Alyssa, Aaron, Carmine James, Rosalee Marie, and Julia Rose, as well as his sisters Josephine and Jeanette and numerous nephews, nieces great nephews and great nieces.  His presence in their lives will be sorely missed.

A private family service will be held in Peters honor at Lohman Funeral Home.

Rest in peace, Peter. Your memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved you. We love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.
