IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peter R
Barkhausen
February 25, 1933 – December 21, 2023
Peter Barkhausen passed away on December 21, 2023 at the age of ninety. Peter was raised in
The Bronx, New York and began his adult life by serving in the United States Navy during the Korean
War. After his military service he met and married the love of his life Barbara. They recently celebrated
their sixty-seventh wedding anniversary.
Peter supported his family, which included three children, Barbara, Stephen, and Michael by
proudly serving the New York Police Department for 20 years. After retiring he opened his own trucking
business in Brooklyn, New York until he and Barbara retired and moved to Port Orange, Florida where
they have lived for the past 21 years.
He embraced the Florida lifestyle by enjoying long bike rides, playing racquetball at the YMCA,
and having friendly conversations with everyone. You could always count on him for a chocolate bar and
a plethora of joke telling. Peter's favorite place to spend time with his wife, family, and friends was at
the beach. He frequently amused people with tales from his career, and the odd jobs he worked
including private security and truck driving.
Peter has always had a strong faith in God and faithfully attended Epiphany Catholic Church
while living in Port Orange.
Peter was a devoted family man and is survived by his wife Barbara, and his three children,
Barbara, Stephen, and Michael. In addition are their spouses, eight grandchildren, and six great
grandchildren.
