Perry Dean Malik 72 of Daytona Beach passed away at home on Tuesday July 5 2011. A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday July 12 2011 from 6pm until 7pm. The "Celebration of Life"" will begin at 7pm in the Funeral Home Ormond Chapel 733 W. Granada Blvd Ormond Beach Fl. Dean or "Dink" as his family and friends called him was born on October 16 1938 in Birmingham Alabama. He moved with his family to Daytona Beach Shores in 1953 where his parents Louie and Pat Malik owned and operated the Belvedere Motel. Dean graduated from Sea Breeze High School in 1956. He attended the University of Florida and was an avid Gators fan. Dean served on the Volusia County Life Guard Corps. He owned operated the Swiss Colony and the Sage and Sand motels in Daytona Beach Shores. He also owned and operated Dink's Barbeque where he had a fleet of Chuck Wagon catering trucks. Dean was later in the real estate business until his retirement. He and his brother-in-law Ray Ferguson developed the Sandpoint Condominiums in Daytona Beach Shores where Dean and his wife Trudy resided and hosted many wonderful parties. Dean was a very active member of the Halifax River Yacht Club and enjoyed social functions traveling and entertaining. He was always the life of the party with his famous hoo hoo! Dean is survived by his beloved wife best friend and partner of twenty seven years Trudy Malik of Daytona Beach Shores children Mike Malik (Leslie) of South Daytona Heidi Rodgers of Kuaui Hawaii and Brandy Coffey (Brian) of Palm Beach Gardens grandchildren Avalon Rodgers Asher Rodgers Cassidy Malik Caitlin Malik Leah Coffey and Dharma Coffey his cherished sister Judy Ferguson (Ray) of Ormond Beach and his faithful dog Pepper.
