Per Tor Saverstrom, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 at Halifax Hospital, Daytona Beach, Florida. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, November 29, at 4 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 44 S. Halifax Drive, Ormond Beach, with Fr. James Harris officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow at the church.

Per was born on December 30, 1934 in Glen Ridge, NJ, to Tor and Christina Saverstrom. He served in the US Navy and retired as branch manager with Owens Corning. He loved boating and was an avid sports fan and painter. Per was also a gifted professional jazz pianist having played in numerous jazz bands throughout his lifetime.

Per is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Joan V. Saverstrom of Ormond Beach; four sons, Scott (Dawn) Saverstrom of Holland OH, Per (Darla) Saverstrom Jr., of Chula Vista CA, Todd Samson of Helena MT, and Scott Samson, of Austin TX; three daughters, Christine Stilwell-Saverstrom of Toledo, Lisa (Mark) Klem Sylvania of Ohio, and Karen (Terry) Burnham of New Castle WA; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
