Penelope Rae Long (Stevens) also known as Penny, passed away on July 26, 2024, in Port Orange, FL, at the age of 79. Born on January 8, 1945, in Bermuda, Penny lived a vibrant and fulfilling life characterized by her deep love for her family and her passion for travel and leisure.
Penny is survived by her devoted husband of over 58 years, David Long from Port Orange, Florida ; her daughter, Sandra Gassett of Port Orange, Florida; grandchildren, Brandon Dunlavey of California and Victoria Gassett of Port Orange, FL; her sister, Elizabeth East of Plymouth, England; and numerous relatives across Bermuda, England, and Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lydia Stevens, and her son, Phillip Long.
Throughout her life, Penny cherished spending quality time with her loved ones, whether it was a family vacation or a simple walk on the beach. Her joyous spirit led her to frequent visits to Disney with her husband, enjoying the magic that each trip brought. An avid golfer, Penny also found pleasure in playing Wordle, always eager for the daily challenge.
David and Penny loved each other very much and have been together 60 years. They have been holding hands ever since they met.
In lieu of a public service, the family will hold a private service in Bermuda at a later date to honor Penny's memory. The Lohman Funeral Home in Florida is assisting the family during this time.
In remembrance of Penny's compassionate spirit, contributions may be made to Halifax Hospice, an organization she held dear. Penny's warmth, generosity, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Penny had a true loving smile with a glow in her eyes!
