Peggy Rowena Ford Nuse 86 of Ormond Beach Florida beloved wife mother grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Friday February 8th 2013.
Peggy was born March 30th 1926 to Ruth Farmer Ford and Edward Jones Ford in Albany GA. She lived her early life in Sylvester Georgia with two sisters - Edwina Ford Page and Helen Ford Wall. She attended college at Valdosta State College. She married Thurman Smith Nuse of Englewood New Jersey on December 18th 1945 and had 2 sons George Edward Nuse and Jeffrey Bernard Nuse.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years Col. Thurman (Ted) Nuse U.S.Army Retired of Ormond Beach Florida; by her son George Nuse and his wife Joyce and their children: granddaughter Treacy Nuse Hunter DPT (husband Capt. Matthew Hunter U.S.Army) granddaughter Laura Ann Nuse grandson Andrew Ford Nuse; and by her son Jeffrey and his wife Cathy and their children: granddaughter Amy Nuse Ramsey (husband Mark Ramsey) great-grandchildren - Jonathon Gracie and Ryleigh granddaughter Elizabeth Nuse Cuff (husband William Cuff). Peggy is also survived by her sister Helen Ford Wall of Monticello Mississippi and many nieces and nephews.
She was an Army wife and took being an officer's wife very seriously. Peggy devoted herself to many community activities as the family moved from location to location throughout the world including Germany Japan and various posts in the United States. Upon Ted's retirement in 1971 Peggy took up floral instruction and designing among other interests.
She was an outstanding Floral Instructor and Designer - Past President of the Arlington Garden Club of Ormond Beach; President of the Creative Floral Arrangers of the Americas (CFAA); a Seminar Chairman for CFAA; District VI Director of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs (FFGC); District VI Judges Council. She was a Life Member of MGC Deep South and FFGC. She was a National Garden Club Accredited Master Judge; a member of the National Garden Clubs Flower Show Schools Committee as Accrediting Chairman for New England and Central Atlantic Areas. She was a member of the Bromeliad Society of Florida Seaside Herb Society and a FFGC Floral Design Instructor. Among the awards she received were "Guardian of Gardening" "Hall of Fame" and "Pillar of Pride" for outstanding work.
Future interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington Virginia. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
