DAYTONA BEACH — Pauline G. (Fleetwood) Poplawski, 80, of South Palmetto Avenue, returned to the Lord on Friday, March 3, 2023 after a long hard fought battle with cancer.

She was born on January 27, 1943 in Chepachet, Rhode Island to the late William H. Fleetwood Sr. and Cora M. (LaFlamme) Fleetwood.  She was predeceased by her only sister, Jean Jeannette Cusick, her husband of 27 years, Edward J. "Pop" Poplawski, her son, John W. McDaniel and her loving companion Patrick Tropea.    She also had five brothers, Adelard "Tootsie", Lawrence "Larry", David, George "Georgie" and William H. "Billy" Fleetwood, Jr.

She leaves two sons, Joseph C. McDaniel and his wife Nancy of Connecticut,  Brain M. McDaniel and his wife Jessica of Michigan: 4 grandchildren, Kristy, Alanah, Nathaniel, & Briannah, one great-grand son, Leo; and one daughter, Katherine E. Yanis and her husband, Jared of Douglas, Massachusetts; 4 grandchildren, Jacob, Samantha, Jaxson & Isabella Yanis.

After working many years in the textile mills, where she met "Pop", she worked in the activities department at a nursing home in Northbridge, Massachusetts.  She loved to get the residents up and moving!  After retiring from her activities position, she decided to take a trip to Florida one winter to visit her "snow bird" neighbors.  It was on one of those visits that she met Patrick at a karaoke night.  As a true karaoke singer, she admired Patrick's vitality for singing and dancing.  She truly cherished the ten years they spent together singing karaoke with their friends, exploring on trips and cruises.  The closest friends in her life:  Lucille, Joyce & Floyd, Patricia & Patrick, were the finest relationships that she could've ever asked for.

She loved waking up every morning to the sunshine and warm weather, sitting out on the patio with her cup of coffee and reading one of her James Patterson novels.  She enjoyed walking the beach every day, looking for shells and feeding the turtles in the park.  She took great pride in crocheting blankets of all sizes and giving them to anyone who would have them often while having her favorite show, Law & Order, on in the back ground.

Pauline's family and friends would like give a heartfelt thank you to all of the people at The Port Orange Nursing & Rehab Center who helped her in her most difficult time of need.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pauline's name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
