Paul M. Swanson, March 1941 - May 2015
Paul passed away peacefully with his wife at his side at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House in Palm Coast, FL May 2, 2015. He was born and raised in Washington, CT one of twelve children born to the late George and Esther (Johnson) Swanson and was the beloved husband of Karen Swanson; the couple just celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. Paul is predeceased by his sisters Ruth Wassong, Dorothy Lee, and Shirley Baslow and brothers George, Allan, John, and Eric. All will be forever remembered by brother Gene of Bantam, CT and sisters Judy Williams of Kent, CT, Esther Camp of Wedgefield, SC and Louise Miller of Roxbury, CT; his children Pamela Swanson of Bunnell, FL, Paul Swanson of Roxbury, CT, Anne Butera of Titusville, FL and Craig Squire of Goshen, CT; and grandchildren Michael Swanson of Roxbury, CT and Joseph Arsenault of Bunnell, FL and great grandchild Jacob Swanson along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him.
Paul served in the Navy and was a long time member of the American Legion Gage-Zumpf Post in Washington, CT.
His career as a mechanic included work with automotive and construction companies and, before his retirement and relocation to Florida in 2005, golf course maintenance. He was a collector of all things, enjoyed fishing and hunting for garage sale bargains with his dog Beatrice riding along.
Paul touched the lives of many people and his friends and family are invited to attend his burial on May 23, 2015 at Great Oak Cemetery, North Street, Roxbury, CT at 10:15a.m. followed by a memorial service at Roxbury Congregational Church, 24 Church Street, Roxbury, CT at 11:00a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Roxbury Congregational Church or the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, 150 Memorial Medical Parkway, Palm Coast, FL 32164.
