Paul T. Shackelford 83 of Port Orange FL passed away April 1 2010. He was born October 8 1927 in Hampton Virginia. He was one of ten children and spent most of his life as a caretaker for his siblings and other family members. As a young man he worked as a plumber followed by brief periods of time in both the army and the merchant marines. He later became a master plumber followed by 30 years of employment with the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad Company where he retired as a pier foreman. In the early 90's he and his late wife Annie "Billie Girl" to who he was married 54 years relocated to Inverness Florida. Paul did not have much time in his life for hobbies. Most of his spare time was spent as a caretaker for his family. Despite the many unfortunate circumstances he had to face throughout the years he never lost his sense of humor. He thrived on practical jokes and was always able to look at the bright side of every situation he encountered. The love and compassion he shared will remain in the hearts of all who had the opportunity to know him. Left to cherish his memory are his son Gary Shackelford and his wife Kathleen; brother's Raymond William Bruce and Ernest; sister's Georgia May Bailes and Barbara Hopson; 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Doris Evelyn Karnes and son Paul T. Shackelford Jr. A private memorial service will be held.
