Paul R. "Rick" Dearbeck Jr., 75, passed into eternal life on July 28, 2026. He was born on January 20, 1951, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Paul R. Dearbeck Sr. and Gloria Nunes Dearbeck. Rick proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Early in his naval career, he served aboard the USS New Orleans, the primary recovery ship supporting the Skylab and Apollo 14 missions. He later became an award-winning Navy recruiter, earning numerous commendations and advanced training certifications throughout his distinguished military career. Rick took great pride in his service to his country. Following his retirement from the Navy in 1990, Rick made his home in several communities throughout Florida before settling in Daytona Beach. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time in his camper near Ocala, where he enjoyed the peace and beauty of nature. Rick will be remembered for his generous heart, kind spirit, and willingness to help anyone in need. He was the kind of person who would truly give the shirt off his back. His compassion extended beyond those he knew, as he faithfully supported numerous charitable organizations, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Halifax Urban Ministry, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and Shriners Hospitals for Children, among many others. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his beloved partner and best friend of 39 years, James Michael Duff, and by his sister, Judy Dearbeck. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sisters, Kathleen Dearbeck, Cynthia Walker, Bonnie Dearbeck, and Marjorie Hall; his brothers, Gary Dearbeck and Charles (Gay Ann) Dearbeck; his many beloved nieces and nephews, who will remember him with great affection; and his cherished dachshunds, Oscar and Girl, who brought him endless companionship and joy. Rick's lifelong love of animals was evident to all who knew him. Rick's kindness, generosity, and unwavering loyalty touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
