Paul Guy Maganus
1917-2006
Paul Guy Maganus 90 a former Army officer and metallurgist died May 30 at home in Palm Coast FL from a heart attack. Born in Wheeling W.Va. Paul attended Wheeling High School and graduated from the Linsly Institute. During World War II Paul served as an Army officer in Kileen TX and Washington DC. After the war Paul received a master?s degree in engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit MI.
As a chemical engineer Paul worked for several manufacturing companies including serving as president of International Casting Company in Detroit MI and Bridgeport and Milford CT Where his deceased wife Anya was as an Alderman. Paul was a lifetime member of the American Foundrymen?s Society and American Welding Society. He traveled extensively around the world representing the Bureau of International Business Operations of the U.S. Department of Commerce during the Kennedy Administration and was a member of the U.S. Trade and Investment Development Missions to Greece Russia Indonesia Ethiopia Jordan Mexico Uruguay Egypt and others. After serving as president of International Consultants Ltd. Paul retired to Palm Coast FL where he continued his active memberships in the Elks Lodge Shriners and Rotary Club. Paul was a thirty-second degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Survivors include his sister Mary Maganus Dallas of Wheeling WV; daughters Paulette Maganus Hatfield of Houston TX Georgette Maganus Newsham of Rochester MI and Olga Roudoy Drew of Fairfax VA Kelly Newsham of Rochester MI Gregory Drew of Sterling VA and Sasha Drew of Centerville VA; great-grandchildren Anya Drew and Matthew Drew of Sterling VA: and nieces Kitty Zanison Dodd of VA and Toni Zanison McCollom of FL.
The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 9 PM Monday June 5 in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast; with a memorial service to take place at 7PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Rotary International Palm Coast Educational Fund or The National Scleroderma Foundation at 300 rosewood Dr. Ste 105 Danvers MD 01923
