Paul Leo Dowling 88 passed on July 14 2013 at Hospice Care Center of Port Orange Fl. He was born in Nashua New Hampshire on March 29 1925 to Leo and Rose Dowling. Paul attended Nashua Business College and entered the service in September 1942. SM1/C Paul L. Dowling Signalman First Class served in the Navy during WWII aboard LST 469/880 serving and protecting the South Pacific from 1942-1946. After an honorable discharge in 1946 he was hired by the Army Corp. of Engineers and relocated to Guam. He married his wife Frances on May 20 1950. They spent 63 wonderful years together. After 28 years in Government service living in Silver Spring MD he retired in 1975 and relocated in Port Orange Fl. in1980. He spent his next 33 years playing golf the second love of his life and spent time as the Men's Club President at Daytona Beach Golf Club. He was employed at the Par 3 golf course in Daytona Beach for 8 years which he considered some of the best years of his life (thanks Jimmy & Donnie). His most fond memories of golf were spent at Riviera Country Club in Ormond Beach Fl. playing in a group called "The Super 8". He also loved taking golf trips around the Florida area and spending time on the beach reading books. If you ever knew Paul or spent any time with him it would not have taken you long to figure out that he was a very generous man who supported his church Our Lady of Hope Port Orange many charities friends and family and would basically give you the shirt off his back. He loved to laugh and be with friends and family. Paul is survived by his wife Frances 88; his son Mike 54 daughter in law Melissa 49 and two grandchildren Brittany 28 and Brady 26. He will be deeply missed by his brother Roger and wife Toni his sisters in law Teri Rachel & Jan along with all of his cousins nieces and nephews and their families. His final wish was to be cremated and place in his final resting place at Daytona Memorial Park in Daytona Beach (inurnment-placement of ashes at a later date).
