Paul Howard Chancey, born February 25, 1929, passed away on December 22, 2020, in Kansas City, MO. He was 91.

Paul was laid to rest at Daytona Memorial Park North in Daytona Beach, Florida on December 30 ^th , 2020. A memorial service celebrating Paul's life will be held at a later date.

Paul grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida where he attended Seabreeze High School. During high school, Paul helped out in the grocery store, his father Fabian owned.  Paul was a bit of a prankster, occasionally putting banana peels on the top of customers hats, without their knowledge. He also would let his presence be known to his only sister Gloria Jean, by giving her a loving thump on the back. Even in his adult life, Paul was known to toss a hush puppy in one's drink while eating at a nice seafood restaurant or put a funny note on a neighbor's car if they left their trash cans out too long. Receiving a letter or card from Paul usually invoked much laughter, as Paul would take great liberties with how he addressed the recipient's name on the envelope.

Paul attended the University of Florida, where he was a university cheerleader and became an avid fan of the Florida Gators. He and his sister had a longstanding rivalry as she attended Florida State University.

After attending the University of Florida, Paul enlisted in the USAF in 1950. He was stationed at Lowry AFB in Denver, Colorado and Hunter AFB in Savannah, Georgia. He was a Machine Gunner in the 20 ^th Bomb Squadron and honorably discharged in 1953.

Paul married Constance (Connie) Hermann on July 18, 1959 and they settled in Jacksonville, Florida.  They were married over 30 years before she preceded him in death on December 6, 1989. Paul was a longtime Jacksonville resident and huge Jaguars fan. He held season tickets to their football games for several years.  He was also an avid golfer for many years. Paul's career was in the grocery supplier industry and he worked for Kraft Foods and The Trigg Company. He remained in Jacksonville after he retired, where he lived until 2018.

Paul is survived by his sister, Gloria Jean Thornburgh, her husband Jack S. Thornburgh of Kansas City, Mo., nephew, Todd and his wife Cheryl Thornburgh of Houston, TX, nieces Jackie Keathly of Oklahoma City, OK and Beckye and her husband Winston Clark of Fayetteville, AR. He is also survived by nephews, Kenneth Chancey, Jr. and Keith Chancey.

Paul was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Ada and Fabian Chancey, wife Constance Chancey, and brother Kenneth Chancey.
