Obituary

Paul Bridges Bullington, Jr., 96, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at his home at Bishops Glen. His family gratefully thanks all the wonderfully supportive and compassionate caregivers at The Abbey at Bishops Glen, his beloved physician of many years, Dr. Roxy Marrese, and the Vitas Hospice care team.

Born May 20, 1921, in Cobb, Georgia, to Paul B. Bullington, Sr. and Leone Howard Bullington, he was a 1939 graduate of Mainland High.
In his years at Mainland, he lettered in football, basketball and baseball and developed a life-long passion for sports, especially baseball. In 1943, Paul married his high school sweetheart, Vivian Murphy.

Following training at the Newport News Shipping and Drydock Co. Apprentice School as a toolmaker and machinery draftsman he proudly served in the US Navy as a submarine periscope specialist and instructor.

Upon his return to Daytona Beach, Paul began his 40-year career with Independent Life and Accident Insurance Company, retiring as District Manager. One of his proudest achievements was earning the designation of Chartered Life Underwriter.

In his retirement years he enjoyed watercolor painting, woodworking, music, travel and time spent with family. Another lifelong passion was poetry, which he loved to memorize and share with his friends and family.

Paul was a man of integrity and strong faith which was evident in the way he cared for and treated others. He generously gave of himself and his time, and always had a positive, uplifting view of life.

He was predeceased by his sister, Marjorie Bullington Bellamy. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 74 yrs, Vivian, 3 daughters; Barbara Willis (Richard), Martha King (Ronnie), Paula Jensen, 5 grandchildren; Laura Willis Acker (Jeff), David Willis (Ashlee), Donna Willis Wendland (Bob), Brad King (Stacy), Ben King (Carolyn), 10 great grandchildren, and 3 nieces.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 1:00 at First Presbyterian Church, 620 South Grandview Ave. Daytona Beach. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The First Presbyterian Church of Daytona in Paul's memory.
