Patsy John Matassa, 83, of Port Orange, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 in Port Orange after a long illness. He was born in Staten Island New York on September 19, 1932 the son of the late Pasquale and Florence Grasso Matassa.
Patsy was a veteran of the United States Army serving with the Signal Corp. in France and Germany. He was employed by the Department of Highways for the City of New York.
Pat played baseball in his youth with Moe Cohen's Blue Jays of Staten Island. Later in life he enjoyed bowling and slow pitch soft ball. He managed and coached Little League Baseball for Snug Harbor Staten Island, New York and American League Baseball. Patsy relocated to Florida in 1983.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years the former Roberta Kearney also of Staten Island, NY. Also surviving are his four children, Deborah Borrelli of Hillsborough, New Jersey, Robert Matassa of Port Orange, Florida, Linda Kramer of Staten Island, New York and Michael Matassa of Holly Hill, Florida, also eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A private Memorial Service will be held for the family at a later date. Condolences may be shared with the family through this online guestbook.
