Patrick John Donder 93 passed away on January 1 2012 at Bishop's Glenn Nursing. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday January 7 2012 in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd.
Patrick Donder was born on April 8 1918 in Mahanoy City PA. He was raised in Ossining NY where he attended High School. He then served his country proudly in the US Navy and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor.
In 1945 he moved to this area from Ossining NY. He retired as Captain of the Daytona Beach Police Department after 23 years of service. Then he became a Deputy with the Volusia County Sheriff's Department and retired after 17 years of service. During his time with the Daytona Beach Police Department he was one of the police officers who organized a rewards program for the Volusia County School Safety Patrol Program taking the children to Washington DC for all their dedication and hard work.
He was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life Helen in March 2010 after being married for 72 years.
Survivors include his two daughters Patricia (Thomas) Galloway and Dodie (Roger) Ulery both of Ormond Beach FL; Four Grandchildren Thomas Galloway Jr. Robin Beddard Gina Ulery and Patrick Ulery and Seven Great-Grandchildren.
