A Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia Ann Zegel 85 of Port Orange who peacefully went home to be with the Lord with her family at her side on Monday November 5 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday November 10 2007 at Epiphany Catholic Church with Reverend Paul Kamide officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday November 9 2007 at the Port Orange Chapel of Lohman Funeral Homes. Patricia was born in Staten Island New York. She graduated from Sayville High School in 1940 and in1982 relocated to Port Orange Florida. Patricia was an avid gardener and outdoor enthusiast with a special love for fresh flowers and birds. She was a devoted mother and friend and family gatherings were especially important to her. Patricia was a dedicated nurse for 25 years graduated from nursing school in 1972 and worked for 10 years at Good Samaritan Hospital West Islip NY. In 1982 she joined the staff at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach FL and retired in 1997. Patricia was an active member of Epiphany Catholic Church and also participated in St. Bernadette's Circle and Epiphany's Council of Catholic Women. She leaves to cherish her memory her seven children three sons and four daughters; Jeffrey Zegel of West End NC Stephen Zegel of St. Louis MO David Zegel of Wesley Chapel FL Peggy Singleton of Daytona Beach FL Pam Mahoney of Boynton Beach FL Amy Kritzer of Enterprise FL and Lisa Hutchinson of Port Orange FL. She also has eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
