Patricia Leigh O'Leary, 77, of Ormond Beach, FL passed on Sun., Dec. 3, 2017. Born Dec. 15, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY and adopted by Albert and Leigh Gartner. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Wed., Jan 17 ^th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Daytona Beach. Patricia graduated from NorwichFreeAcademy in Norwich, CT, majoring in Criminal Law in 1957 and went onto Willimantic State College. She married in 1965 and was named as the first female police officer in 1966 at Norwich Police Dept. in Norwich, CT. In 1967 she was appointed to the Connecticut State Police Dept. after completing the State Police Academy. She retired from the CT State Police Dept. and moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She then was employed by the State of Florida Dept. of Child Services as an investigator. She retired in 1995 and moved to Ormond Beach. Patricia was a member of the Riverbend Women's Golf Assn. for 17 years were she also enjoyed her love of playing golf. She is survived by her partner, Gloria LaFontaine, her son, Shawn O'Leary, Groton, CT and daughter Kimberly O'Leary, New London, CT. as well as by nine grandchildren.
