Patricia Roarty (O'Connell) King 75 of Ormond Beach FL peacefully passed away at home on April 17 2013. A Memorial Service will be held in Patricia's honor Thursday May 2 at 11am at Central Baptist Church 152 Fairview Ave Daytona Beach FL 32114.

Patricia was born in Kingston PA to William and Elizabeth Roarty. She was a graduate of Forty Fort High School. At 18 she moved to Washington D.C. to take a job with the Federal Government. She married Charles F. O'Connell of Wilke-Barre PA. They lived in Washington D.C. where their first child was born. They then moved to Arlington VA where they raised their three children. Patricia's primary career was as an executive assistant for Strauss Management. She worked for Admiral Strauss' Company for 28 years before retiring. Patricia lost her husband Charles in 1984.
Patricia was very active in the Democratic Party. She was a Chairman of the Democratic Party in Prince Williams County VA. She also chaired the Board of Social Services and was involved with other important committees. Patricia met Edwin King at a political event she was chairing. They fell in love and married in 1987. Patricia and Edwin moved to Ormond in 1998 where they enjoyed their Bear Creek community.
Patricia will be remembered for her beautiful voice. She sang in the choir of Central Baptist Church in Daytona Beach. She also sang with the Bear Creek Singers and the Jubilees who perform for senior centers. Patricia was one of the first female cantors for Blessed Sacrament Church in Alexandria VA where she was a faithful member. Patricia was dedicated to community involvement. She was President of the Fairlington Elementary PTA in VA and of HOA committees. She was a member of the Halifax Pilot Club in Daytona and President of the Lions Club in VA.
Patricia very bravely fought her own cancer and actively helped other cancer patients. When the Halifax Oncology Department asked her to participate in their Calendar Girl Project for Cancer Awareness she was delighted to be a part of that project.
Patricia was predeceased by her father William J. Roarty her husband Charles F. O'Connell her brothers David and Kevin Roarty. Patricia leaves behind to mourn her memory her dear husband of 26 years Col. Edwin C. King U.S.M.C. (ret); her children: Mary Claire Lennartz (Joe) of Ormond Beach Charles P. O'Connell (Elizabeth) of Scotland Elizabeth O'Connell (Justine) of Silver Spring Maryland; her mother Elizabeth J. Roarty of PA; her siblings: William Eileen Mary Beth Margaret Robert Mark and Michael; her grandchildren: Grace Katherine Sarah Connor Courtney and Mollie; numerous nieces and nephews; and the greatest event in her life her great-grandson Henry.
