Patricia Harrell Franklin, 76, of Port Orange, FL passed away on May 25, 2023. She was born on August 10, 1946, in Newport News, VA to parents Otis Leland Harrell, Jr. and Jean Hudson Harrell. God called Pat home after a long, brave battle with numerous health issues. Although her passing brings much sadness we are comforted that she is no longer suffering. She passed from this world the same way that she lived while in it - with toughness, determination, and heart. Pat retired from Halifax Hospital after a decades long career, beginning in the kitchen and eventually working her way up to a supervisor position in Accounting. She was so very proud to have been a member of the Halifax family, remaining active after retirement as an advocate and leader for the Halifax retirees. Pat was known to many as quick witted, smart, and giving, always there to lend a hand or guidance. She loved the beach with her lifelong friend Del. She is preceded by the love of her life John Franklin, and is survived by her daughter Jami Brackett, son Jody Franklin, as well as three grandchildren, Kaia Franklin, Dylan Brackett, and Jacob Brackett. Pat has two sisters, Joan and Jackie and two brothers, Richard and Leland, all of whom she adored. She also had a very close bond with her Aunt Gay. Goodbye for now, beloved mom, sister, and friend - the light you left for us will continue to shine in our hearts. A memorial for Pat will be held at a later date.
