Patricia Barry
Duffy
Oct 14, 1939 — Feb 25, 2019
Palm Coast
The family of Patricia (Pat) Barry Duffy will celebrate her life on March 25, 2019, at 11:00 AM Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida. A light reception will follow at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast, 220 Palm Coast Pkwy. SW, Palm Coast, Florida. All family and friends are invited to attend.
Pat died at age 79 on February 25 after a 7-month battle with pancreatic and lung cancer. Born in 1939 to Marian and Humbert Fusco, Pat and her sister, Jane Fusco Duffy, were raised in an extended and loving family in Palisades Park, New Jersey. Pat told her children and grandchildren countless stories of the frequent and well-attended family gatherings throughout her childhood. Pat was also a Girl Scout and played field hockey. After graduating from Leonia High School, Pat became a dental hygienist in Englewood, New Jersey.
After retirement, Pat and John moved to Palm Coast where they started another chapter of their lives, which included travels around the country and to Europe, New Zealand, and Australia, and frequent dinners with "the Friday Night club" in Palm Coast. She loved her local book club and water aerobics group through which she made many friends. She also continued her passion for cooking, politics, crossword puzzles, and sports – particularly the English Premier League.
In addition to John, Michael, Shannon, and Kevin, Pat was a devoted sister to Jane and her husband Dick. Pat loved her nieces Deirdre, Beth and Brigitte, and her extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. She was a beloved friend and confidant to Margaret, Pete, and Maria Fe. Pat doted on her grandchildren Matthew, Liam, Chris, Katie, Peter, Maddy and Ria, telling them stories about family and travel destinations, and discussing favorite topics like cooking, history and sports. More importantly, she taught her grandchildren kindness and compassion and to be their own person.
Pat's family and friends miss her dearly, but she will live in our hearts forever.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Pat Duffy's name to: the American Cancer Society; St. Jude's Children's Hospital; and Samaritan Ministries in Bunnell, FL.
Condolences may be shared with the family here on our online guestbook.
