Patricia Joan McCarthy Obituary
Patricia Joan McCarthy passed away peacefully at her home in Ormond Beach, Florida on October 2, 2017. She was 92 years old.
Pat was born on August 4, 1925 in the Bronx, New York to Rita and Thomas Connolly. During World War II she served as an overseas switchboard operator. Following the war, Pat married the love of her life William "Bill" McCarthy on November 23, 1947 and they moved to North Bellmore, New York where they raised six (6) children. Pat was active in St. Barnabas Church and President of the Rosary Society.
Pat and Bill moved to Florida in the early 1980's and settled in Ormond Beach where she obtained her Florida real estate license. Selling homes all along the coast of Volusia County, Pat helped hundreds of people find their dream home. She was a faithful member of St. Brendan Catholic Church. Having lived through the Great Depression, Pat never forgot what it was like to be hungry and focused numerous volunteer efforts on feeding families in need.
Pat loved to travel the world and enjoyed taking an occasional casino visit. She was a great hostess to family and friends and nothing gave her more joy than spending time with her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. Generations of friends and family loved visiting Grandma and Grandpa McCarthy at The Beach! She was so very proud of her family.
Pat is survived by six children, Bill (Carol), Kevin, Dennis (Merril), PJ, Maureen Daughton (Jim), Brian (Lisa); nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; her sister Lorraine DeMara (Ray) and Jeanette Garramone (Louie), countless nieces and nephews and dear and devoted friends with whom she shared many good times.
A wake will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 6-8:00 pm at Lohman Funeral Home, located at 733 West Granada Boulevard, Ormond Beach, Florida 32174. A funeral Mass, celebrating her life will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd., Ormond Beach, Florida 32176. Entombment will be held immediately after at Volusia Memorial Park, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, Florida 32176
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army or charities of your choice in Pat's name.
