Berniece "Pat" Tallman, 94, of Ormond Beach, FL departed peacefully on April 16, 2024. Pat was born in Flint, MI to Hattie and Robert Raley. She attended Beecher High School and Baker Business School. After working at National Cash Register, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse and graduated from Mott Community College with a degree in nursing in 1968.

Pat worked as a registered nurse for many years in Flint hospitals before moving to Ormond Beach in 1980 to work at Ormond Memorial Hospital. During this time she traveled to San Francisco to sit for the very first certification exam for gastrointestinal assistants ever given in the U.S. becoming the first certified GI assistant in Volusia county and one of only four in FL at the time. In 1981, Pat developed Memorial's first GI laboratory and served as its coordinator until retiring in 1991. After she retired she enjoyed golfing and playing bridge at the Riviera Country Club. Pat was a voracious reader who especially enjoyed British mystery books. She volunteered at the Ormond Beach library for many years and loved having first look as new books came in. She liked to knit, do stained and fused glass, make jewelry, and bake biscotti for family and friends.

Pat is survived by her daughters Cindy Jenkins (Ed Weisbart) of St. Louis MO and Laurie Rae Bonk of Ormond Beach FL, her stepdaughter Linda (Dan) Squires of Fenton MI, grandchildren Gary (Kellie) Bonk and Deborah Bonk, and great grandchildren Blake Jillisky, Joelee Callahan, and Nyomi Bonk.

Pat was preceded in death by her sons Douglas and Gary Jenkins, stepsons Jeffrey (Ulalia) and Robert (Aileen) Tallman, her brother Robert (Karen) Raley, and grandson Christopher Craig.

A "Celebration of Life" open house will be held on May 11th, 2024 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Lohman's Funeral Home located at 733 West Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL.
