Orris Earl Shearin , the son of Glenwood and Bertha Shearin , was born on 14 October 1933 in Franklin County, North Carolina and at 89 years young, departed our physical world peacefully at the Halifax Hospice Care Center in Port Orange on 26 April 2023. Orris was one of eleven children and is survived by his wife, Janet Shearin ; four daughters Nancy Boone ; Patricia Shearin -Sampson ; Kimberly Syfert; Krist yn Murdock , three stepchildre n , Dean LaCla ir , Tina Rutzke , Dana Farina and two sons-in-law, William Boone , and Michael Syfert . Orris, also, leaves behind 13 grandchildren , 13 great grandchildren and his only remaining sibling, John Shearin .

Orris joined the United States Air Force in 1951 where he was trained as an telephone installer/ lineman and served in Korea during the war . Injured at the end of the Korean War, he was later discharged from the Air Force and relocated to Homestead, FL in 1955 with his first wife, Ruby Pearce Shearin , who passed away years later . His Air Force training as a lineman would support him and his family through the remainder of his life. Orris found work at the City of Homestead as a lineman and progressed upward in the company until his retirement in 1995 . I t was in Homestead that he met Janet and in 1988 , they were married . A few years after retiring, Orris move d to Port Orange , FL where he and Janet resided until the day of his passing.

Orris was a god-fearing man, a loyal dedicated husband, a strong brother that any of his siblings could depend on , a l oving father a nd grandfather to all his grandchildren . Seldom did he have a n unkind word about anybody, and earth is a worse place with his departure ; however, Heaven is shining brighter with his presence.

The service for Orris E. Shea rin will be held at 1130 o n May 9 th , 2023, at Lohman Funeral Home . i n Port Orange, FL. Immed iately following the service, the funeral procession will go to Cape Canaveral National Cemetery for military honors and burial .
