Onesimo Nigaglioni, 86, of Deltona Florida, passed away on April 2 nd , 2023 peacefully surrounded by loving family. Born on February 3, 1937 in Penuelas, Puerto Rico to his late parents Camilo Nigaglioni and Maria Santiago. Upon graduation from High school Onesimo joined the United States Army.

Onesimo joined the Army on April 10, 1956, Onesimo began his Army Career. He finished his two-year service and retired from the military. After the military he moved to New York with his family for a few years and returned to Puerto Rico after that.

While in Puerto Rico, he met his wife Maria attending a family event organized by his brother and sister-in-law and dated for two years. Onesimo and Maria got married and during this early part of his marriage he attended the Antillean Adventist University in Mayagüez where he studied Business Administration with a minor in Education.

While in Mayagüez he was able to get a job offer for a government job in Ponce resulting in moving to Yauco with his family. He found a successful career at this job and in politics where he became a director and was also asked to run for Mayor in Yauco. As a family-oriented man, he consulted with his wife and kids. They all expressed their disapproval of this and he declined to run. He understood that his family did not want to navigate through the muddy waters of politics so he was fine with the decision.

He made many sacrifices and put all his kids in a private school for many years, the same school that his wife once attended, Holly Rosary School. He also worked hard to raise his family in good neighborhoods surrounded with professional, religious people, and good-hearted people.

In 1988 he decided to move to Florida for a few reasons, all related to the wellbeing and happiness of his family. One son needed better eye care and another one wanted to study in Florida. Onesimo and Maria moved to Deltona (FL) in May of 1989 to start a new adventure in life. Onesimo and Maria guided their family of four kids through the changes with great advice and loving support. They pushed their kids to go through college and get educated for a brighter future.

Onesimo was married to Maria for 56 years when he passed due to various complications. His greatest achievement that he was so proud of was his family. He loved and welcomed everyone and always talked great about all.

His children: Danny Nigaglioni, Barny Nigaglioni, Richard Nigaglioni, and Henry Nigaglioni.

His daughters in law: Sylvia, Alma, and Sonia.

His Grandkids: David, Adriana, Luis, Alejandro

Onesimo always attended family events and always knew how important it was to do so. He attended all graduations, was there for our birthdays, and more.

Onesimo used to say "You know where you were born because someone told you, but you never know where you'll die", life is a journey.

The family would like to thank the Hospice teams at Fish Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care during Onesimo's short stay. They'd also like to thank all of our family and friends for their support and prayers during this time.
