Whittington
March 12, 1945 – April 15, 2026
On Anong "Ott" Whittington passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at the age of 81. She was born in Bangkok, Thailand on March 12, 1945 and spent her childhood and school years there. Ott graduated from the Bangkok Institute of Technology. In 1970, Ott married her husband, Joseph Whittington, who was stationed in Bangkok in the US Army. For the next 14 years, Ott lived on multiple military posts around the world following her husband's military career. During this time, she raised three children and managed the needs of a growing family. In 1983, Ott was proud to complete the rigorous requirements for US citizenship. In 1984, her husband retired and moved the family to Port Orange, Florida.
Ott loved to travel both in the US and abroad, enjoyed cruising, having dinner parties with friends, serving delicious Thai food, and spending time with family. She is remembered as kind, gentle, resourceful, and hospitable. She loved her family and was surrounded by loved ones in her last moments. Ott is survived by her husband, Joseph Whittington, Sr., her son, Joseph (Natalie) Whittington, Jr, her niece, Angie Charnock, her grandchildren, Jacob and Anna Whittington, her honorary grandson, Aidan Charnock and family, her mother, Somruay Unhalekhaga, and two sisters, Auchara Charnock and Paula Comeau. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Samson Whittington and James Whittington, her father, Armorn Unhalekhaga, and two brothers, Arvut Unhalekhaga and Arnurak Unhalekhaga.
The family will host the following two events to celebrate Ott's life:
A local Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, May 1st, 2026, at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114.
A traditional Thai service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, 2 May 2026, at Wat Florida Dhammaram (Buddhist monastery), 2421 Old Vineland Rd, Kissimmee, FL 34746
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to the American Kidney Fund at www.kidneyfund.org.
