Funeral Service for Dr. Norman Holt II age 69 of Ormond Beach who passed away October 26 2005 at Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial will be held on Wednesday November 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. His family will receive friends on Tuesday November 1st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Dr. Holt was born in Martins Ferry Ohio and moved to this area in 1974 from Silver Lake Ohio. He played semi-pro baseball and was scouted to join the Cleveland Indians before he contracted polio. He graduated from Marietta College Ohio Northern Law School and was elected City Attorney for the city of Belpre Ohio just out of law school. He served as Cuyahoga Falls Prosecutor Law Director and Police Attorney. He was appointed U.S. Attorney in Cleveland by then President Richard Nixon and also ran for U.S. Congress. Dr. Holt was a professor at Daytona Beach Community College for 30 years. He also taught for Warner Southern College. He served as Chairman of the State Education Finance Committee for Miami Dade College. He was a member of Ormond Beach Union Church the Kiwanis Club the Lions Club and was a 32nd degree Mason. His great loves were his wife sons and grandchildren. He enjoyed golf baseball football basketball soccer tennis swimming music and art. Dr. Holt coached the first soccer teams in the Ormond Beach area and was very active in coaching his son?s baseball and basketball teams. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Barbara his four sons Norman W. III Peoria AZ David P. Ormond Beach FL Alan T. Ormond Beach FL Eric F. Ormond Beach FL and two grandchildren.
