Norma Hanson Collins

A celebration of life of Norma Hanson Collins Ormond Beach will be held on Monday May 12 at 2:00 at the Ormond Beach Union Church at 56 N. Beach Street in Ormond Beach. Norma passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on May 6 2008 at Ormond Oaks Elderly Care surrounded by her family. Norma was born in Fayette Wisconsin on June 23 1913 the daughter of Elmer and Hannah (Larson) Hanson. She was united in marriage to Rocky Collins her loving husband for 62 years he preceded her in death. She Attended the Harlands School of Beauty Culture and after graduating she opened the first beauty shop in New Glarus at the age of 22. She was president of the Junior Commerce Auxiliary and organized a food drive to send a box car of canned goods to Germany to support the troops during the war. She moved to Ormond Beach in 1952. Her family was the first residence in the Tomoka Oaks Country Club Estates in 1962. She owned and operated Norma's Beauty Shop on Granada Blvd. from 1955-1969. Norma was an active member of the Ormond Beach Union Church a charter member of the American Business Women's Association of Daytona Beach and an avid golfer. She started the Tomoka Oaks Women's Golf Association and was runner-up to the club champion three times. Her hobbies include golfing painting writing gardening and playing the piano. She is survived by her sons David Collins and his fianc Jean Roy of Ormond Beach Pete Collins and daughter-in-law Melody of Augusta Georgia Richard Collins and his fianc Shelia Norris of Ormond Beach and daughter Vicki Fabulich and son-in-law Joseph of Ormond Beach . She will be greatly missed by her children 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who adored their nana. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Florida Hospital Hospice Care at 770 W.
