Norinne J. Tiley, 80 of New Smyrna Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on February 20, 2016 at Halifax Health Hospice Care Center Edgewater. She was born January 26, 1936 in Turners Falls, Massachusetts to Dr. Kenneth and Mary Jacobus.
Norinne greatest loves were music, she loved it as a professional and as a teacher, she loved being with people and especially the kids. Her professional life included instrumental music, which joined the choral and orchestral music. She was involved in a variety of community shows and a revolving series performances for the three schools at which she taught an served as chairman of the department, Hopkins Academy, Hampshire Regional, and Northampton High School.

At Hopkins Academy, the band was selected to represent the state at Governors' Day at the Eastern State Exposition. The 129 piece band was also chosen to represent Massachusetts at the Expo in Canada and the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. At Northampton High, in 1982, as director of music, the band consistently won first and second places in national and international competitions for concert bands.
Norrinne filled her schedule with the Chorale, Freshman Chorus, jazz band, and Triple Trio, she directed the annual Broadway musicals such as West Side Story, Most Happy Fella, and Funny Girl. Professionally, she served on the Massachusetts, Music Educators' Board of Directors, and managed Western District chorus, she served as a District band adjudicator; and managed Massachusetts All-State Chorus.

Norinne was a song stylist with a twenty-six piece swing band and variety show which was sponsored by the U.S. Dept. of Defense and the State Dept. They toured several military bases in the European Command, the Far East, where she received the Far East Command Medal, North Africa, Bermuda and the Azores. She received the Ahfeld Award for her contributions to the arts community; she was also honored by the VFW for her contribution to the youth of the community.

Norinne enjoyed fishing, photography and of course, going to shows. In 1973, she married restaurateur, former golf pro, Howard "Bub" Tiley and inherited five beloved step-children, Patricia McAnaugh and her husband John of East Hamptom, Deac and Elaine (Weldon) Tiley of Jefferson, Georgia, Sue Flynn of Deerfield, Michigan, Carolyn Tiley of Boston, Massachusetts, and Mary Jo Lundquist and her husband Michael of Pelham, Massachusetts. The Tiley's also have four grandchildren, Tara, Kristen, Miles, and Ashley, as well as eight beautiful great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be celebrated on Thursday, February 25th at 2:30 p.m. at Daytona Memorial Park, officiated by Fr. Richard Grasso.
