Nikolaos George Karamitos of Ormond Beach, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones on December 12, 2015. He was born in Nestani, Greece on March 17, 1941 to George and Georgia Karamitos. He married the love of his life, Panagiota, in May of 1964 in Montreal, Canada.

In 1973, he brought his family to Ormond Beach. Known to everyone as Nick, he was one of the owners of Delta Restaurant for 20 years. In 1989, he became the "Nick" of Maui Nix Surf Shop, which he was co-owner with his brother and son.

He is the patriarch of a large and beautiful family. He is survived by his wife, Panagiota, his son George (Cindy) Karamitos of Ormond Beach, FL, his daughters, Maria (Mark) McDonald of Ormond Beach, FL, & Georgia (Angelo) Ballas of Winston Salem, NC, and his 5 grandchildren Stephanie, Costa, Niko, Athanasia, & Dean. He is also survived by his 4 siblings, Vassiliki Tsiolis, Peter (Maria) Karamitos, Costa (Voula) Karamitos, & Toula (Andreas) Maniatis, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was a very active member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Those who were fortunate to know him would say he was very kind, loving, one of the most giving souls, and that his family was his greatest accomplishment.

A visitation will be held on December 15, 2015 from 6-8pm with a trisagion service at 7pm in the chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. The funeral will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church on December 16, 2015 at 10:30am. We're saying goodbye to a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and King of the Karamitos family.
