Nellie Mae Sorenson age 99 passed away on Friday January 14 2011 at the Florida Lutheran Retirement Facility. A memorial service will be held at a later date; please contact the funeral home for further information. Interment will take place at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church flower garden. Nell was born in Joliet Illinois to Shelly and Cora Peters. She graduated from high school and in her lifetime had many ventures including a sewing demonstrator for Singer and retired as hygienist and receptionist for a dental office. She was a member of a rare breed: creative organized strong unpretentious a talented knitter and an accomplished tennis player. She was a proud member of St Barnabas Episcopal Church the PEO Sisterhood and the Deland Happy Rug Hookers. She enjoyed playing cards socializing traveling and spending time with her family. Her husband Leslie G. Sorenson and a daughter Marilynn O'Malley preceded her in death. She leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons: Richard (Kathy) Sorenson of Leesburg FL. and David (Emma) Sorenson of Garden Grove CA one brother Charles (Bennie) Peters of Naples FL 5 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren.
