Naomi Ruth Painter Morris

Naomi Ruth Painter Morris, 92, went home to be with Jesus on October 18, 2018, her 66th wedding anniversary to her beloved husband, Ernest R. Morris, Jr. "Big Ern" & "Little Sug" were still madly in love with each other after all those years together. Naomi is predeceased by daughter Kathleen L. McNichols, granddaughter Naomi Ruth McNichols, parents Arthur & Myra Painter, sister Alice (George) Lubke, brother Robert (Louise) Painter. Survived by her husband and children Patty (Neal) Davis, Stacy (Ken) Kasten, Maria (Dan) Hartsough. Sister-in-law MaryEllen (Irwin) Hanson, Son-in-law Walter McNichols and grandchildren Patty (Mark) Guenther, Caleb McNichols (Shanah Alexander), Kevin McNichols, Samuel (Karen) McNichols, Joshua McNichols, Debbie (Justin) Bullington, Daniel Hartsough, David Hartsough, Rachel Davis, great grandchildren Carson, Mia & Hudson Bullington. The Lubke, Painter, Hanson nieces & nephews whom she loved dearly. Naomi was born in Upper Montclair, New Jersey June 24, 1926. She graduated from Montclair High where she was a cheerleader, Class of 1944. She attended Secretarial School in Manhattan, New York before moving to Daytona Beach, Florida with her mother after her father died. She was working for the Daytona Beach YMCA when she met Ernie, the love of her life. They were married October 18, 1952 at St. Paul's Church and raised four daughters who attended St. Paul's School and Father Lopez High School. Naomi always had so much fun with her daughters, working on puzzles, playing the piano, listening to classical music, reading the Word of God and collecting seashells on the beach. She was a Girl Scout leader with Barbara Pagano, member of and Board Secretary for Winning Women of Florida for 20 years, receptionist at Highlands Lab with Dr. Favis and Dr. Snodgrass, Eucharist Minister & Engaged Couples Mentor at St. Paul's. Naomi leaves us a legacy of love and laughter. We will miss her sweet, tender smile and heart of gold. Naomi's funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 27th, 11:00 a.m. at Basilica of St. Paul Catholic Church, 317 Mullally Street, Daytona Beach, FL. Burial, Daytona Memorial Park, Bellevue Ave., Daytona Beach. Flowers may be sent to Lohman Funeral Home, 1423 Bellevue Ave., Daytona Beach or donations may be made in memory of her beloved German Shepherd, Rex, to Halifax Humane Society, 2364 LPGA Boulevard, Daytona Beach, FL 32124.
