Nancy Elizabeth Pickett 78 of Ormond Beach peacefully passed away Monday October 1 2012 surrounded by her family. Nancy was born in Salisbury Maryland to the late Ellis and Mable Parsons. In 1955 Nancy graduated from the University of Maryland School of Nursing with a (BSN) Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She married Dr. Wilbur C. Pickett Jr. and they started their family of four sons. They moved to Daytona Beach Florida in 1963. Nancy described herself as "an Eastern shore girl."

Nancy was a tireless caregiver always wanting to help someone else. She provided long term care for both her mother and mother-in-law so they could enjoy life at home. She volunteered at WORC St. James Episcopal School and helped start the Polio and Measles immunization program in Volusia County. Nancy enjoyed reading cooking racing and playing golf but her true joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her loving family: son King Pickett his wife Ruthie and their children Leila and Carly of Daytona Beach FL; son Duke Pickett his wife Debra and their children Duke Jr. and Max of Culpepper VA; son Earl Pickett his wife Judy and their children Nancy and Jacob of Orlando FL; and son Baron Pickett of San Diego CA. Nancy was predeceased by her husband.

A private family service will be officiated by The Reverend Dr. August L. Sorvillo.
