Obituary

Nancy Ellen Parrish

"Bargain shopper", "chocolate lover", "best grandma ever"

The purest soul & hardest working woman I know left this earth to be with her mom, her love Jack, and 6 out of 9 of her siblings. Nancy passed in her home surrounded by her children, grandchildren, sister and nephew on January 29 th , 2021 at 78 years old.

Nancy was born in Massachusetts on July 31st, 1942. She and her twin sister were the second & third oldest of 10 siblings! In 1968 she moved to East Hartford CT where she raised her children until 1983 when she planted her roots in Daytona Beach FL. She retired from the post office in 2008. Nancy spent her retirement in the pool teaching her grandkids how to swim, making way too many grilled cheeses and fish sticks and attending every baseball game possible. We really couldn't have asked for a better grandmother. She never failed to tell us how much she loved us, on every phone call, voicemail & birthday card. She loved garage sales and the discount bread outlet; if it was full price she didn't want it. Nancy also loved to travel. She used every tax return she ever received on a ticket to a different country and loved collecting foreign jewelry. She was the smartest and most independent woman we ever had the honor of knowing. She came from very little and made a pretty amazing life for herself, her children and grandchildren.

She spent her last 5 years of life living with her daughter and 4 grandchildren. Her grandson, Dodge, also her very best friend according to her, took the best care of her, each and every day. She was never one to bite her tongue no matter who she was speaking to, they always knew exactly how she felt about them and to her very last days she made everyone around her smile with her quick and witty remarks. She really could make anyone's day better. I think we will miss that the most. Nancy lived a long and happy life, her beautiful heart, work ethic & independence will forever be remembered & cherished by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Nancy is survived by her 2 children Kathy Sharpton and Walter Tregoning, her son- in- law Troy Sharpton and daughter- in- law Lisa Tregoning, her 6 grandchildren: Troy Ashley, Gage, Parker, Dodge, Sydona, & Trace, her 2 sisters Carol & Daphne & her youngest brother Roger and many, many  nieces and nephews and plenty of great friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 18th, 2021 from 3-5pm at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Nancy's favorite flower was the daisy. Those who wish may also share condolences with the family here on our website.
