Myra Jean Brumfield born September 17 1932 died November 21 2008. Originally from Huntington West Virginia Myra and husband Garland lived for the past 14 years in Ponce Inlet Florida. Myra was formerly a Vice President of Security Bank in Huntington and was responsible for establishing a travel agency there. She was born Myra Jean Gilkerson and was the daughter of Iris Lee and Noble Desmond Gilkerson. Myra was known for many things but especially for her unique and magnetic personality love of singing music the ocean and beach and her family. In addition to her parents Myra was preceded in death by her beloved son Richard Thomas "Richy" Ferguson her sister Gwen White and her brother Paul Thomas Gilkerson. She is survived by husband Garland and his children Teresa Ann Hoffkins (Joe) and Lloyd Lee Brumfield (Donna). She leaves behind her loving children Terry Anne Roberts (Ed) Robert Andrew "Andy" Ferguson (Kathy) Joseph Scott "Scotty" Ferguson (Kathy) and Cynthia Lou "Cindy" Ferguson (Dale). Myra's sister is Gail Yvonne Barton (Bev) sister-in-law is Donna Gilkerson (Paul) and brothers are Jack Conrad Gilkerson (Nancy) and Noble Drew Gilkerson (Pat). Grandchildren are Meghan Jean Zniber (Salim) Phoebe Anne Whitt (Greg) Shawn Chris and Aaron Ferguson Ethan Ferguson Kristin Gordon and Brittany Ferguson. Great grandchildren are Chase Ty and Tyler. A memorial reception is being held Monday November 24 at 11:00 am at Ocean Quest Condominiums in Ponce Inlet. Other services will be on Wednesday November 26th at Chapman's Mortuary 2851 Third Avenue Huntington with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. and the final service following at 2 p.m.
