MSG (RET), Robert Gilpatrick of South Daytona died peacefully on February 24, 2021 due to complications of Covid-19, he was 84 years old. It was a beautiful afternoon and he was surrounded by his loving family when he passed at Halifax Hospital. Bob's life was dedicated to his family, service to his country and always, others first. He had 30 years of combined service to our nation in the Air Force and the Army National Guard.

Bob was born in 1936 in Milwaukee, WI. He was one of 6 children of his parents Jules and Emily Gilpatrick. After high school he served in the Air Force for 5 years and upon his return from a tour in Korea he met his wife Dianne. He and Dianne moved to Port Orange in 1962 where he worked for IBM for 10 years. They then settled n South Daytona in 1970 where he worked for Volusia County until his retirement in 1996.

Bob was a builder, a renaissance man who could build and fix anything. With no formal training, he built from scratch, several Airplanes and Pendleton cars. He happily flew and drove all of them upon their completion. He restored antique barber chairs for several years. For the last few years he took up wood working, turning out many beautiful bowls and cutting boards made from imported and local woods.

He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Dianne Gilpatrick and three children (all veterans as well) 1SG (RET), Jane Gilpatrick Parker, SFC (RET), Robert JK Gilpatrick and MAJ (RET), Scott Gilpatrick.

A memorial Mass will be held 11 AM Wednesday March 17, 2021 at Church of the Epiphany in Port Orange. Internment will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at a later date.
