Obituary

Moses Bamidele Mason changed life for eternity on Sunday May 28, 2023, in Daytona Beach, Florida USA. He was 76 years old.

He was born to George Leonard Edward Mason and Eunice Modupeh Lake on September 24, 1946, in Freetown, Sierra Leone. George Leonard Edward Mason predeceased him in death. His mom Eunice Modupeh Williams aged 98 is still living in Freetown, Sierra Leone.  He was raised by his mother, Eunice Williams or Mama Modu, as a lot of people know her.  He  lived briefly with his uncle Francis Mason of blessed memory.

He began his education at Samaria Primary school in Freetown, went to Bo Secondary School for his secondary education (No. 1639), and completed his 6th form education at The Sierra Leone Grammar School. He worked at the science lab of The Sierra Leone Grammar School before attending Fourah Bay College, the University of Sierra Leone where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Geology. In 2001, he obtained a Diploma in Building Maintenance at The American Training Institute in Florida.

The following chronicles his professional career achievements:
1972 – 1973: Pupil Geologist, Armco Nord Rutile
1973 – 1978: Laboratory Chemist, Sierra Rutile Limited
1978 – 1980: Processing Supervisor, Sierra Rutile Limited
1980 – 1995: Plant metallurgist at Sierra Rutile Limited
1996 – 1998: As a result of the rebel war, Moses and his family relocated from Sierra Leone to Guinea, then to Maryland, and eventually to Florida, United States.
1998 – 2000: Quality Inspector, Metra Electronics, Holly Hill, Florida
2000 – 2006: Laboratory Scientist, Elab Inc, Ormond Beach, Florida
2006  – 2012: After the rebel war in Sierra Leone, he was recalled as Chief Metallurgist, Sierra Rutile Limited
2012 – 2016: On retirement, he worked part-time at consulting services in various fields.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Laurie Mason; his mother Eunice Modupeh Williams; his children  Janet, Amy, Manty, Moses, Bernadette, and Olu; his sisters Princess, Frances, Ransolina, Rebecca, and Lilian; his brothers Sam, Francis, and Michael.
several grand-children, nieces and nephews; in-Laws Malamah-Thomas, Illoba, Macrae and Mason families; relatives  the Williams, Mason, Lake, Johnson, Sogie-Thomas, Jones, Dixon, King, Bell, Roberts, Abolo-Cole, Luke, and Harding families; close friends: Sahr Wonday, Hadji Dabo, John Wilkinson, Sylvanus Kpanabom, Victor Williams, Lasites, Thomases, and staff of Sierra Rutile Mining Company.

He will be greatly missed, especially his loving smile. We love him dearly, but God loves him best.
