Minas "Michael" Perakis passed away November 19 2011.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 30 2011; at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Ave. Daytona Beach FL from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday December 1 2011 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 134 N. Halifax Ave Daytona Beach FL at 1pm. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery.
Minas was born December 10 1925 in Rhodes Greece. He served during WWII with the Greek military in Northern Africa. After the war he moved to America and married Katina Vordamis in 1954.
Minas learned the restaurant and night club business in Washington D.C. before moving to Daytona Beach where he was a resident for over 50 years. He founded and owned many successful business including The Veranda Lounge The Picnic House The Casino and The Mocambo.
His children and wife were his life he was an exemplary father provider and husband.
Minas was an active inventor and secured several patents over the years. He remained an active inventor after retiring and had over 10 concepts in progress at the time of his passing.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Katina and his daughter Constance. He is survived by daughters: Monica Perakis and Niki Perakis of Daytona Beach and Anastasia Perakis of Tampa FL; and by 4 grandchildren who adored their Papou.Condolences are welcome and may be shared with the family at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.comArrangements are under the direct supervision of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona.
