A Memorial Service to celebrate the joyful life of Michael G. Simmons age 61 who passed away Wednesday August 17th will be held Saturday at 2 pm at Seabreeze United Church 501 N Wild Olive in Daytona Beach FL. Michael was born in Newbury England and immigrated to the United States when he was 12 years old. After graduating from Rhodes College in Memphis TN he worked in the financial services industry for most of his career living in Hong Kong Wisconsin and Rhode Island before moving to Florida in 1986. Here he was a financial advisor currently the Branch Manager of Raymond James and Associates in Daytona. Michael loved offshore fishing vacationing in St. Martin and building projects around the house with his wife Diana. He was Chair of the Church Council at Seabreeze United Church where his greatest love was for a ministry called Bridging the Gap for Children at Risk a ministry that he gave many hours to in helping families get back on their feet and offering spiritual guidance for them. He loved the Lord and his family knows that is who he is with today. He is survived by his wife Diana Simmons of Ormond Beach daughters Stacey Simmons of Ormond Beach and Michele Joyce of Davis CA grand daughter Rowan Joyce of Davis CA stepdaughter Laura Brantley of DeLeon Springs stepson Michael Brantley of Clearwater FL mother Kathleen Simmons of Calais ME sisters Margaret Fauver of Louisville KY and Susan Hall of San Antonio TX and brother Dr. David Simmons of Calais ME. He also leaves behind many friends and church family whom he loved.
