Dr. Michael James Kelley, 60, formerly of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away on March 2, 2017 after a severe heart attack. Michael was born in Long Beach, CA to Robert and Soledad Kelley.

Michael graduated from Boston College in 1980 with a degree in biology. At Boston College he met his wife, Terry T. Kelley. Michael and Terry were wed in 1982 in Quincy, MA.

Michael went on to pursue a Ph.D. in pharmacology, and then a medical degree, both from the University of Louisville. He chose to specialize in oncology, and completed a fellowship at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and residency at Johns Hopkins. He began practicing in Ormond Beach at the then new Cancer Care Center at Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial, and spent nearly 20 years providing care and support for others.

Michael enjoyed watching his favorite teams (go Red Sox!), traveling, and making (dad) jokes. He cherished spending time with his family.

Michael is survived by his son Christopher, his daughter Rosemary, and his sister Abby White.

Relatives and friends are asked to join for a wake at Lohman Funeral Home in Ormond Beach, FL, on Friday, March 9, from 4-7PM. This will be followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Brendan's Catholic Church on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 11 AM. Michael will be laid to rest with his wife Terry in Braintree, MA. The family requests that flowers be sent to Lohman Funeral Home Ormond,  and any donations be made in Michael and Terry's names to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
