Obituary

Michael Laymon Cash, 52, a lifelong resident of Daytona Beach, FL, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014.

A visitation will be held between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M., on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. at The Basilica of St. Paul Catholic Church , 317 Mullally Street, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 on Friday November 28, 2014. Burial will immediately follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery.

Michael was born on November 30, 1961 at Halifax Hospital to Hugh and Patricia Cash. He attended St. Paul's Catholic School, Father Lopez High School, and graduated from Mainland High School in 1979. Following high school, he attended Daytona Beach Community College, graduating with an associate's degree in 1981. Michael had a variety of interests which included woodworking, fishing, and above all cooking for his family.

His famous chili was second to none. As an avid coach for youth baseball, Michael served the Holly Hill Parks and Recreation Little League for several years. Michael also had a generous nature and never turned away a friend or family member in need. When September rolled around each year, Mike always looked forward to cheering on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs and Miami Dolphins. For almost 20 years, Mike was the owner of Cash Boys Locksmith, a business he was immensely proud of and one his sons help make successful. He was greatly loved by his family and many friends and his passing will leave a void in all of our lives.

Michael was predeceased by his father, Hugh William. Survivors include his mother, Patricia, sons Bryan, Bradley, Brandon, and daughter Mikenna. Additional survivors include his brothers Hugh (Cheryl), John (Jennifer), and nephews Hugh, Joe, John Michael, Ryan and Aunt Barbara Wood. Michael also took great joy in his six grandchildren Bryan Jr., Isabella, Olivia, Brock, Madison, and Elaina.

Donations can be made in Mike's honor to the Alzheimer's Foundation at 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. Condolences may be shared at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com.
